RESOURCE CENTER

By supporting VB Home Now, you will help reinvigorate our efforts to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring for many homeless families and individuals in Virginia Beach. Your contribution will change lives by giving families a place to call home at the Housing Resource Center and offer a new beginning.

The Housing Resource Center will provide shelter or a permanent home for 100+ homeless individuals and family members at a time.

SINGLES SHELTER

  • 44 dormitory-style beds + 7 respite care beds

  • Short-term shelter with flexible arrangements to meet the needs of the most vulnerable

ONE-STOP-SHOP OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES

  • Day Services

  • Coordinated Assessment

  • Health Clinic

  • Learning Center

  • Department of Human Services Offices

BENEFITS TO THE COMMUNITY

  • Improves results for moving people permanently out of homelessness

  • Reduces cost to the community for police, courts, jail stays, emergency health services and foster care placements 

  • Improves coordination among community partners

  • Reduces foot traffic through the community by people who are seeking assistance

INTERIM FAMILY HOUSING

  • 10 motel-style rooms with 40 beds and room for cribs

  • Short-term shelter with related services

  • Can accommodate small or larger families

EFFICIENCY APARTMENTS

  • 30 apartments that provide longer-term or permanent living arrangements for single adults

BENEFITS TO HOMELESS FAMILIES & INDIVIDUALS

  • Provides a safe and stable environment

  • Offers improved case management to provide housing-focused assistance at a single facility

  • Provides opportunities for permanent and short-term housing

  • A consolidated resource center reduces transportation issues
